Two different runs that people mix up

Out of Da Nang we cross at one border — Lao Bao, into Laos. But there are two departures on that route: different money, different problems.

The 45-day stamp run. You cross, you get a new entry stamp, you come back. No visa is issued and there is nothing to pay for one: the stay comes from the stamp itself. Six weeks later you do it again.

The 90-day e-visa run. Same road, except that on the Lao side you wait while the express visa is processed and re-enter on it. The day is longer, but the next border trip is three months away, and a 90-day visa is what makes a Vietnamese bank card possible.

The timetable, and why the car works differently

The sleeper bus leaves Tuesdays and Saturdays at 01:45 from My An, back around 14:00 on a stamp run. The visa version runs Tuesdays only, boards on the Lao side at 12:15 and returns by 18:00.

The car — Kia Carnival or Toyota Fortuner, five passengers maximum, three rows — collects you from your address. For a stamp it leaves at 4:00 and returns by 15:00; for a visa, out at 3:00 and back by 16:00.

The part worth knowing early: a car fills by group. We open a departure once four or five people are on it, and that needs lead time — five days for a stamp run, six for a visa run. Inside that window we offer the bus or the next date a car is going.

What we take on, and what stays with you

Both legs of the road and the wait at the border. The date chosen around when your stay expires. A briefing and written instructions for the crossing. The e-visa application, the government fee on our own card, and the correct entry point — the thing people most often get wrong alone. Breakfast on the bus and a manager reachable through the day.

What stays with you is the crossing itself: the guide runs the departure but does not go through the checkpoint with you. Want a person beside you at the window — arrange it before booking, not on the morning.

What sits outside the fare

At the border you hand over 140,000 VND in cash per person, exact change for passport fees. Meals from our partner restaurant are 1,050,000 VND for the business set and 1,100,000 VND for premium, against the standard 850,000 VND fare on the sleeper bus; orders close at 18:00 the day before because the food is cooked two hours before departure.

Then the Lao visa, which depends on your passport. Russian and Belarusian passports do not need one — the stamp on the Lao side is free. On any other passport: 40 dollars at the Lao consulate in Da Nang, roughly twenty minutes, or 45 dollars at the border, where they want a visa photo.

How payment works

Vietnamese dong by QR or in cash, USDT, or roubles with a 6% surcharge. For a stamp run you settle on the day of departure; for a 90-day visa the fee is paid before submission, because we pay the government fee upfront.

The guarantee, and its limits

Departures that include a new 90-day e-visa carry a guaranteed result or a 100% refund. No exclusions are written into it — if the visa does not come through, the money goes back. We pay the fees upfront on our own card, so that risk sits with us.

Stamp runs are not covered, and stretching the guarantee over them would be dishonest: there your stay is decided by the officer, not by our work. Nobody is turned away at our end — entry is refused for one reason only, being on the Vietnamese immigration blacklist.

Common questions

How far ahead should I book?

One to two weeks. Berths on popular dates go early; a car needs five days of lead time for a stamp run, six for a visa run.

Is there a toilet on the sleeper bus?

Not on board, but there are two stops on the way. Better answered here than at 02:00 on the road.

Can I choose my berth or my seat?

Yes. A specific berth is 50,000 VND — rows A and C sit by the window, row B runs down the middle with curtains on both sides. In a car you pick the row, and the row sets the price. Berth booking covers the outbound leg.

Why do you not give me the driver's number in advance?

Four years and 7000-plus passengers taught us it creates more confusion than it solves. The driver calls you before departure.

What if I am late for departure?

The bus leaves on time. Message the manager and still come to the meeting point — occasionally we can put you in a car going out the same morning.

Is there a blanket in the car?

Not by default — summer makes them pointless. Ask when you book and we will bring one. On the sleeper bus blankets are standard.
