Da Nang’s international kindergartens fall into two price tiers, and the half-day slot is what separates them. Little Giants in My An sells mornings only for about $3,000 a year, while the same slot at Singapore International School @ Da Nang costs more than $8,000. A child’s visa dates belong in the plan as well, and that part of the move is mine.

I handle visa paperwork for expat families in Da Nang, and kindergarten questions reach me alongside the visa ones. I have not visited these schools. Every figure below comes from a school’s own 2026-27 page or from the International Schools Database and doris fee listings, and I say so wherever a directory is the only source. Schools bill in dong, and dollar amounts here are converted at about 25,600 VND per dollar.

Which international kindergartens in Da Nang publish enough to compare?

Five schools publish a 2026-27 fee table or enough detail to compare, and a sixth, Yarra, publishes hours and a programme but no prices. Four sit in the Ngu Hanh Son area around An Thuong. St. Nicholas is in Cam Le district, and I could not confirm the campus address of Odyssey.

Little Giants Kindergarten in My An

Little Giants follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage in English, with Vietnamese-language activities added to the day. It runs 198 learning days a year from 4 Che Lan Vien in My An. It is the only school here that publishes a full 2026-27 fee table for mornings.

Singapore International School @ Da Nang

The kindergarten of SIS Da Nang, called KinderWorld, sits in the Phu My An urban area. Each pre-school class has a foreign teacher plus a Vietnamese teacher, and families choose between an International track and an Integrated track that mixes Vietnamese and English. Kindergarten classes cap at 12 to 25 children depending on age.

Yarra International Education

Yarra teaches in English with native-speaker teachers, on an Australian-framework programme inspired by Reggio Emilia and HighScope, with fewer than 5 children per teacher. It stands at 2-4-6 Le Huu Khanh, on the An Thuong side. Its fees are not published, and the website says few places remain for 2026-27.

APU American International School

APU runs a US-licensed international programme and a bilingual programme at 299 Tran Dai Nghia in Hoa Hai. Its kindergarten years are K1 to K3.

Odyssey International School

Odyssey is an IB candidate school with an inquiry-based early years programme and an average class size of 7 according to the directory.

The St. Nicholas School

St. Nicholas teaches bilingually and uses the Reggio Emilia approach at kindergarten level, at 458 Nguyen Huu Tho in Khue Trung. It charges one flat fee for every kindergarten age.

At what age can a child start kindergarten in Da Nang?

The earliest entry is 18 months, at SIS Da Nang and Yarra. Little Giants and St. Nicholas take children from age 2, and APU and Odyssey start at 3. Most programmes stop at age 5 or 6 and continue into a primary year at the same school.

Little Giants splits ages 2 to 6 into four groups: Playgroup for 2 to 3, Nursery for 3 to 4, Reception for 4 to 5 and Year 1 for 5 to 6. It keeps 1 adult to 5 children in the youngest group and 1 to 6 for ages 3 to 5. Yarra’s programme runs to age 8, so a younger sibling can stay at the same school for years.

What does a half day look like in Da Nang?

Two schools publish a real half-day option. Little Giants runs mornings from 8:00 to 11:15, against a full day from 8:00 to 16:30. SIS Da Nang sells half days for Pre-Nursery and Nursery with lunch or without it, while its Kindergarten 1 and 2 classes are full day only.

Yarra is open weekdays from 7:30 to 17:30 but does not publish session formats. APU, Odyssey and St. Nicholas publish none either, so until they confirm mornings only in writing, I would treat Little Giants and SIS as the only two morning prices you can compare.

How much does an international kindergarten cost in Da Nang?

Published 2026-27 tuition across the five schools spans about $3,070 to $10,960 a year, and the table shows where each one sits.

Little Giants figures come from its own fee table, which assumes paying the year up front for a 10% discount. Paying by quarter adds up to about $3,410 for mornings. SIS figures come from the doris listing, and the two directories disagree on the nursery tier, which is why that cell is a range. The APU, Odyssey and St. Nicholas figures rest on one directory each, and I could not confirm them on the schools’ own pages, so get them in writing.

What do kindergartens ask for, and does a child need a visa?

Expect a copy of the child’s passport, a birth certificate and vaccination records. SIS Da Nang also asks for an original health-check certificate and two passport photos, and it lists passport copies of the parents when they are foreigners. SIS’s published list does not mention a visa, so ask every school whether it checks one before you pay a deposit.

The part that catches families is the end date. A child’s visa that expires mid-term leaves three options: an extension, a border run during lessons or an overstay. Which category a child qualifies for depends on the parent’s own status, so check current rules with the Immigration Department. The full document list for older children is in the Da Nang international schools guide.

This is the part BestBus Vietnam handles. You can file on the e‑visa portal yourself, with a $25 state fee for single entry or $50 for multiple entry, if the portal accepts your card. If it rejects the card, I pay the fee with one it takes and plan an extension or a border run around the term dates. Send me the end date of your child’s visa on WhatsApp and I will tell you what fits before the first day.

Which kindergarten fits your family?

Pick Little Giants for a 2-year-old who needs mornings only at the lowest published price. Pick SIS Da Nang for a Singapore programme from 18 months with a half-day option. Choose Odyssey or APU from age 3 when an IB or US programme matters more than price. Yarra and St. Nicholas need a direct fee quote before you can compare them.

The monthly budget around tuition is in the guide to moving to Vietnam with kids. The commute can decide more than the brochure, so look at where to live in Da Nang before you sign anything.

Fees and hours you can settle with a few emails. A visa that ends before the August intake cannot wait for a reply, and if you would rather not count days against a term date, I can plan that side with you. Tell me your dates on WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions

Can my child join in the middle of the year?

Schools take children year-round where they have space, with the main intake in August or September. Little Giants sells short stays of up to 8 weeks at about $215 a week for a full day or about $98 a week for mornings.

Is lunch included in the fee?

At Little Giants meals are a separate charge of about $500 a year, covering lunch and three snacks, and the fee page applies the same charge to mornings-only enrolment, so ask whether a morning child eats lunch. SIS prices its half day with and without lunch.

What one-off fees come on top of tuition?

Little Giants charges no enrolment fee but takes a $625 deposit, refunded only after a full year or rolled over. SIS Da Nang adds a registration fee of about $250, a placement test of about $115 and a deposit of about $585.

Does my child need to speak English or be toilet trained?

Little Giants says no toilet training is required and many children join with little or no English. The other schools publish no such requirement, so ask during the tour.

Can I try a school before committing?

Odyssey offers a 3-day complimentary trial for its early years, according to the doris listing. I found no published trial at the other schools, so ask for a visit and a trial morning in writing.
